A GLORIOUS CELEBRATION OF CHORAL SINGING

Festival Of Choirs

Four outstanding choirs of great diversity will sing at this year’s concert on July 28th, Sunday afternoon at 2pm at Lake Macquarie Performing Arts Centre, Warners Bay.The Seaside Singers, a large four part group from the Port Stephens area  will present  works by Schubert, Verdi, Johann Strauss  music from The Lord of the Rings and more. Director is Diana Souter whose considerable talents are now benefitting her chosen place of  “retirement” in Nelson Bay.

Diana ,a piano graduate of The London College of Music, established The Seaside Singers in 2009, and is supported by her husband  Ron, treasurer and librarian and “her best bass!” She describes herself as someone who has had two husbands, three children and five careers. Therein lies an interesting biography for a future article.
Acapella Nova is one of many projects of noted soprano, musical director and viola player Samantha Cobcroft. It was founded in 2003 and directed by Sam since 2004. Their repertoire is eclectic  with fine attention to musicality in all styles. The program includes some Schubert, Folk Songs, Gospel, and Irving Berlin.

Legendary choral conductor Alan Thrift has created a men’s group  sourced from the Sydney  Male Choir, which he directed for many years. This program has an emphasis on Entertainment! .“Let’s Put on a Show” is their catch phrase. You will have a fun time with The Men’s Shed Chorale.

Lake Singers is our all women’s choir directed by the very skillful Annette Phillis. This group was founded by Alan Thrift as the Lake Macquarie City Ladies Choir. They will sing Spirituals, music from the shows, and popular favourites.

All proceeds go to The Lake Macquarie Eisteddfod.
