Lake Macquarie music Society presents its first concert this year on March 26th 2pm at Warners Bay Performing Arts Centre. It features a galaxy of young musicians – all prize winners from the Lake Macquarie Eisteddfod. There are six pianists four singers three cellists two trombonists and an amazing young virtuoso clarinettist- Zachary Donoghoe. Zachary is a student of international jazz clarinettist Andy Firth, and he gave the world first performance of Andy’s new clarinet sonata last year. Zachary has a brilliant future ahead of him. Pianist Huon Bourne Blue studies at the Conservatorium of Music with Luba Totoeva, and made his debut with the Lake Macquarie Philharmonic Orchestra last year as a percussionist.

18 year old Douglas Lam is a student of Philip Sketchley and won the inaugural Marjorie Lambert Piano Prize of $1,000. Daniel Duque & James Farley are two trombone players of advanced & spectacular skill. They are students of Michael Bell. James is the Brass Champion of 2016. 12 year old Tobias Reiman is a cellist of renown. He is the only competitor in the history of the Eisteddfod to achieve 100% winning the Chin-Hwi Ang Championship.

17 year old soprano Tashana Hardy has a huge following on Facebook. She is a winner in all types of styles- classical, music theatre, oratorio and Jazz. She has completed a course in Sydney in the Schools’ Talented Development Program, and is a soloist with Star-Struck. Her unique voice and musical versatility give her many options for a career in music.

There are 16 young champions. Follow their progress and careers, and enjoy their dedication & determination to succeed.
