CONCERT SUNDAY 6TH NOVEMBER, 2PM. Warners Bay Performing Arts Centre.

The next concert by our regional professional orchestra has a distinctly theatrical theme. Following the great success of Opera Hunter’s recent production of The Marriage of Figaro, five of the featured artists have been invited to sing with the orchestra. Alex Sefton, ( Figaro) will sing The Toreador Song from Carmen. Alex has had a considerable career already singing with the schools’ program for Opera Australia,& performing roles with Opera New England. He has sung in The Magic Flute, The Barber of Seville, Carmen, La Boheme & La Traviata. He was recently a soloist with the Newcastle University Choir in the first performance of Anzacs-A Generation Lost in Legend, by Janet Jennings. Alex is a graduate of The West Australian Academy of Performing Arts, with A Bachelor of Music & A Graduate Diploma.

Jared Lillehagen will sing the beautiful Aria from Gounod’s Faust, Avante de Quitter. Jared recently sang the Count in Opera Hunter’s Figaro. He currently is contracted with Opera Australia and touring as the father in Hansel & Gretel. He has a Bachelor of Music and an Advanced Diploma of Opera from Sydney Conservatorium of Music and has sung with Pacific Opera, Sydney Chamber Opera and Opera New England. Jared is based in Sydney and has family in Lake Macquarie.

Soprano Georgia Hall will sing the magnificent aria Pleurez mes Yeux from Le Cid by Massenet. Georgia sang the role of the Countess in the Opera Hunter production of The Marriage of Figaro to great acclaim. She is currently in the second year of the pacific Opera’s Young Artist Program. She has sung Phoebe in The Yeomen of the Guard, the mother in Amahl & the Night Visitors, feature roles in Love Life & Opera, all for Opera Hunter, & she sang the Forester’s wife in The Cunning Little Vixen for pacific Opera. Georgia has won many prizes in Eisteddfods & studied with Angela Hickie in the United Kingdom.

Sopranos Susan Hart & Marian Moroney will sing the Flower Duet from Lakme by Delibes, & Jared & Alex will sing the triumphant duet Suoni la Tromba from Il Puritani by Donizetti.

The orchestra will open the concert with the Overture to Die Fledermaus by Johan Strauss Junior, the Intermezzo from Cavaleria Rusticana  by Mascagni, and the Waltz from Thaikovsky’s ballet Sleeping Beauty.

The second half will be Tchaikovsky’s 4th Symphony. Conductor is Christopher Bearman OAM who recently conducted the Marriage of Figaro for Opera Hunter. He will conduct a season of Don Giovanni for Opera Hunter in June 2017.
